Saint Patrick’s Day is the most widely celebrated national holiday in the worldIt happens every March 17th and is marked with huge parades and parties, particularly in Argentina, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States.

In 2010, Tourism Ireland started its ‘Global Greening’ programme by illuminating two landmarks green for Saint Patrick’s Day. In 2017, this number grew to almost 300 buildings and monuments across the world, including the 7 World Trade Center in New York, the Colosseum in Rome and the Great Wall of China.

This year, the Global Greening is expected to bring in €10 million worth of free advertising for the country. Below you will find photos of ‘Greenings’ that have happened in Latin America in recent years.
